Why We Are Different
Craft Coffee in a Neighborhood Cafe
Bay Ridge has always had its diners and delis where you can get a solid cup of diner coffee. There is nothing wrong with that. But if you want specialty-grade, craft-roasted coffee served by people who actually care about extraction and temperature and the origin of the beans — your options in this neighborhood used to be slim. Pier 69 Market changed that.
We serve La Colombe, one of the most respected craft roasters in the country. Founded in Philadelphia and now sourcing from farms across Latin America, East Africa, and the Pacific Islands, La Colombe produces beans that consistently rank among the best in the specialty coffee world. At Pier 69, we treat those beans with the respect they deserve: our espresso machine is calibrated daily, our baristas are trained in proper technique, and our cold brew is slow-steeped for smoothness without bitterness.
The result is a cup of coffee that stands up to anything you would find in a specialty shop in Williamsburg or the West Village — but at neighborhood prices, in a neighborhood setting, without the pretension. Our cortados are balanced and silky. Our flat whites have a velvety microfoam. Our iced lattes are clean and refreshing. And our regular drip coffee is a La Colombe house blend that is smooth, aromatic, and leagues ahead of what you will find anywhere else on 3rd Avenue or 86th Street.
